Ep 4: Bookend your day

In this episode of the 9 to 5 Faith podcast, host Paige C. Clark talks to Ivonne Rivera-Newberry about her life as an almost empty nester. Ivonne is a nurse who has been working in public health since 2012 and is currently overseeing over 50 clinics across the state of Kansas for the state health department.

Ivonne is married to Jason, whom she met while they were both in the army. They have two children, an 18-year-old son who is studying mechanical engineering in college and a daughter who is a senior in high school and wants to be a large and small animal vet.

Paige and Ivonne discuss the different stages of life and how they affect a person's opportunities and experiences. They also talk about the challenges of being a working parent and preparing for the empty nest stage of life.

Ivonne and her husband both work full-time jobs, and their schedules can be busy, especially when travel is involved. They recently changed churches after being with their previous church since 2017. Ivonne shares how her faith has impacted her life and how she has navigated changes and challenges throughout her journey.

Ivonne Rivera-Newberry is passionate about discipling new followers of Jesus. She is currently writing a book for new believers to nurture their walk with the Lord by getting deeply rooted in their new identity in Christ. Her own story of salvation started in 2017 at 41 years old amidst a growing career and active family life. Ivonne was among the 25 selected for the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Public Health Nurse Leader Program. She is a nurse and clinical consultant for over 50 clinics across the state of Kansas. She has degrees in philosophy, nursing, and public health. She is always learning and relishes creating spaces and processes that stoke creativity and yield personal insight. 

Ivonne is a blogger, compulsive planner and haphazard gardener, who loves seafood and strong coffee, though not at the same time. She has a very big dog, a very little dog, and three cats. She has been married to her best friend for 20 years and their love story began in the Army. Together they have an 18 year old son and 17 year daughter.
